Liberty Media Corporation
A holding company that owns media, racing, and sports businesses, including Formula One grand-prix racing, SiriusXM satellite radio, and the Atlanta Braves club. It grew out of Tele-Communications (TCI), the cable giant built by John C. Malone, which spun off its programming arm as Liberty Media in the early 1990s. The "Liberty" name traces to Liberty Cable Television, a system TCI acquired during its formation.
