A U.S.-based energy company that explores for, produces, and sells crude oil and natural gas, largely from properties across the Mid-Continent region. It was founded in 2003 by Michael Linn, who named the company after himself, and grew by acquiring mature oil and gas fields and wringing more output from them. The company later filed for bankruptcy reorganization and emerged under new ownership, continuing operations under the Linn Energy name.
