A satellite communications company headquartered in New York. Its story traces back to Loral Electronics, founded in 1948 by entrepreneur and later chair Bernard Schwartz, whose name blended with "rocket" themes; it went on to build spacecraft and, through its stake in the Canadian operator Telesat, operates a global fleet of geostationary satellites used by broadcasters, telecom carriers, and governments. Loral's Telesat unit has been at the forefront of pushing data over satellite for decades, serving customers across the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.
