A maker of trendy footwear, handbags, and accessories, Steven Madden, Ltd. sells shoes, boots, sneakers, and bags for women, men, and kids under its own Steve Madden label and brands like Dolce Vita, Betsey Johnson, and Anne Klein. Founder Steve Madden started the company in 1990 in Queens, New York, having a batch of 500 pairs made and hawking them to shops out of the trunk of his car. It's named after its founder, and its chunky platform designs helped put the brand on the map.
