Amag Pharmaceuticals Inc
A biopharmaceutical company that grew out of nanoparticle science, AMAG Pharmaceuticals began in 1981 as Advanced Magnetics, Inc., making iron-oxide particles used to brighten MRI scans. It later shifted to therapeutics, selling Feraheme, an intravenous iron treatment for anemia, and Makena, a drug to lower the risk of preterm birth. The company took the AMAG name in 2007 and was folded into Covis Pharma in 2020.
