Maplebear Inc.
A grocery technology company best known as Instacart, it runs an online marketplace that delivers and picks up groceries from thousands of retail banners across North America, using hundreds of thousands of shoppers. It also sells software to retailers (the Instacart Enterprise platform) and first-party data-driven advertising to brands. Founder Apoorva Mehta started it in 2012 after his own empty fridge frustrated him, naming the service "Instacart" for an instant cart; he reportedly won a Y Combinator meeting by delivering beer through the app. Its smart Caper Carts and Carrot-branded shelf tags help digitize the in-store shopping experience.
10-Q · Quarter ended Jun 30, 2026 · SEC filing ↗
Instacart's continued to erode, falling to 72% as payment processing and advertising costs outpaced growth. Revenue rose 14% to $1.04 billion and reached $481 million, but dipped 4% to $111 million as a 24% increase in cost of revenue offset the top-line gain. The company is growing orders and revenue, but the cost of that growth is rising faster.
Q2 2026 revenue rose 14% to $1.04B on 14% GTV growth, while net income dipped 4% to $111M as cost of revenue grew faster.
The company sees no material impact from a 10% FX or interest-rate shift and has no derivatives, but inflation may pressure demand and margins.

See discussion under the caption “Legal Matters” in Note 10 — Commitments and Contingencies to our condensed consolidated financial statements included elsewhere in this Quarterly Report on Form 10-Q for information regarding legal proceedings that constitute material contingencies for financial reporting purposes that could have a material adverse effect on our consolidated financial position, liquidity, or results of operations if they were resolved in a manner that is adverse to us. Although the results of these claims, lawsuits, government investigations, and other legal proceedings in which we are involved cannot be predicted with certainty, we believe that none of these matters is likely to have a material impact on our business, financial condition, results of operations, or cash flows. However, management’s views and estimates related to these matters may change in the future, as new events and circumstances arise and the matters continue to develop. Further, regardless of final outcomes, any such legal proceedings, claims, and government investigations may nonetheless impose a significant burden on management and employees and may come with costly defense costs or unfavorable preliminary and interim rulings.
