Masonite Worldwide Holdings
A maker of interior and exterior doors and door systems for homes and commercial buildings, Masonite produces entry and patio doors in fiberglass, steel, and wood. The company traces back to 1925, when inventor William H. Mason—a former apprentice of Thomas Edison—found a way to press waste wood chips into a dense board using heat, steam, and pressure, a material that became known as "Masonite." The name itself simply combines Mason's surname with the chemical suffix "-ite."
