Amsurg Corp
A developer and operator of ambulatory surgery centers — the outpatient clinics where patients get procedures like colonoscopies and cataract surgery without staying overnight — AmSurg manages more than 250 such centers across dozens of states, partnering with physicians and health systems. Founded in Nashville in the early 1990s by consultants who had begun advising surgery centers in the 1980s, its name is simply short for "ambulatory surgery." It merged with Envision Healthcare in 2016 and became an independent company again in 2023.
