Media General Inc
A broadcast and publishing company whose roots reach back to 1887, when Richmond attorney Joseph Bryan bought a newspaper that became the Richmond Times-Dispatch. Run by the Bryan family for generations, it renamed itself Media General in 1969 as it branched out from print into television, and it went on to own dozens of local TV stations across the US. In 2017 it merged with Nexstar Broadcasting to help form one of the nation's largest TV broadcasters — a fitting end for a name meant to signal it had grown "beyond just media's general, all-around."
