Media General Inc
A Richmond, Virginia media company that grew from a single newspaper into one of the country's largest owners of local television stations, carrying CBS, NBC, ABC, FOX, and CW programming. Its roots reach back to 1879, when the Dispatch Co. began publishing the Richmond Dispatch; the Bryan family later merged that paper with the Times-Dispatch. The name "Media General" was adopted in 1969 as the firm branched beyond newspapers into broadcasting, and in 2017 it was folded into Nexstar.
