A biopharmaceutical firm focused on acute and hospital care, known for Angiomax, a blood thinner used during heart procedures, and later inclisiran, a cholesterol-lowering medicine. Founded in 1996 by Dr. Clive Meanwell, the company built its business on "rescuing" drug candidates big pharma had shelved. Its first big drug came from a discontinued Biogen project — a blood thinner inspired by the saliva of medicinal leeches.
