A maker of axles, brakes, and electric powertrain parts for commercial trucks, buses, and off-highway machines, Meritor's components help keep big rigs rolling around the world. Its roots reach back to 1919, when Willard Rockwell invented a new bearing system for truck axles; the business later became Rockwell International's automotive unit, spun off in 1997 as Meritor Automotive, and merged with Arvin Industries in 2000. In 2022 it was absorbed into engine maker Cummins.
