Andeavor
An American petroleum refining, marketing, and logistics company, Andeavor supplied fuel to thousands of gas stations across the country under familiar brands like Shell, ARCO, Exxon, and its own Tesoro name. It began in 1968 in San Antonio as Tesoro Corporation — Spanish for "treasure" — founded as an oil exploration firm before building its first refinery in Alaska a year later. When it rebranded to Andeavor in 2017, it deliberately kept the new name off its gas stations, and in 2018 it was folded into Marathon Petroleum.
