Mudrick Capital Acquisition Corporation II
A special purpose acquisition company, or SPAC — a "blank check" firm that raises money in an initial public offering to later merge with or buy an existing business. It was the second such vehicle created by Jason Mudrick, founder of the distressed-credit investment firm Mudrick Capital Management, and it aimed to combine with companies that had recently emerged from bankruptcy or needed to restructure their balance sheets. It made headlines in 2021 when its planned merger with the trading-card maker Topps fell apart after Topps lost its Major League Baseball licensing deal.
