National General Holdings Corp
A specialty insurer best known for auto coverage, National General sells car, motorcycle, RV, homeowners and small-business policies to drivers and families across the United States. Its roots stretch back to 1920, when the life insurer Integon was founded in Winston-Salem, and it later grew out of General Motors' own insurance arm, which GM launched in 1925 to cover vehicles it financed—making it the only US insurer to start inside the auto industry. Allstate bought the company in 2021.
