A maker of organic macaroni and cheese, crackers, fruit snacks, and other pantry staples, Annie's Homegrown is one of the best-known organic food brands in American grocery aisles. It was founded in 1989 in Connecticut by Annie Withey, who perfected her signature mac and cheese using the white cheddar powder left over from Smartfood, the popcorn company she had just sold. The bunny on every box is Bernie, her childhood pet rabbit, chosen after her brother joked she shouldn't put her own face on the products.
