National Penn Bancshares, Inc.

A Pennsylvania bank holding company, National Penn Bancshares offered checking and savings accounts, loans, and wealth-management services to families, small businesses, and corporations across the mid-Atlantic. It began in 1874 as the National Bank of Boyertown, a small community bank that changed its name to National Penn in 1993 after growing beyond its hometown through acquisitions. The bank, based in Allentown, was bought by BB&T in 2016, later becoming part of Truist.
