A maker of networking gear, NETGEAR sells Wi-Fi mesh systems like Orbi, high-performance routers like Nighthawk, mobile hotspots, and ProSafe switches, along with cloud-managed networking and security for small businesses and Pro AV professionals. It started in 1996 when a small team inside Bay Networks launched a venture to make affordable "plug-and-play" networking for homes and small offices after their parent company passed on the idea — the name simply blends "networking" and "gear."
