Apogee Enterprises, Inc.
A North American maker of the glass and metal "skins" that wrap commercial buildings, Apogee Enterprises fabricates high-performance architectural glass with special coatings plus aluminum windows, storefronts, and curtainwall systems used by architects and builders. It began in 1949 as Harmon Glass, a Minneapolis auto-glass replacement shop that later moved into installing building glass and, in 2004, left the car business behind. The name comes from a 1960s investment club that its first CEO bought the rights to for a single dollar, picked to sound modern during the Space Age.
