Apollo Investment Corporation
A publicly traded investment company known as a Business Development Company, this firm (formerly Apollo Investment Corporation) lends money to private, middle-market businesses that sit between small bank borrowers and Wall Street's biggest names. It was organized in Maryland in 2004 and is managed by Apollo Global Management, the asset firm founded in 1990 by Leon Black, Joshua Harris, and Marc Rowan. The "Apollo" name came from those founders, who launched their firm after the collapse of the investment bank Drexel Burnham Lambert and picked a name evoking stability and classical strength. In 2022 the company rebranded as MidCap Financial Investment Corporation to spotlight its focus on loans originated by its affiliate MidCap Financial.
Common stock — Renamed to MidCap Financial Investment Corporation (MFIC) in 2022
