Nuveen Senior Income Fund
A closed-end investment fund that invested in adjustable-rate, U.S. dollar-denominated senior loans (also called leveraged or bank loans) issued by U.S. companies, seeking current income while preserving capital. It was launched in 1999 by Nuveen Investments, a Chicago firm founded in 1898 by John Nuveen Sr., a German immigrant who left the wholesale grocery business to underwrite municipal bonds. In 2023 the fund was merged into the larger Nuveen Floating Rate Income Fund.
