A Texas-based operator of an integrated plant in Beaumont that makes methanol and anhydrous ammonia—chemicals used in everything from plastics, fuels, and paint to fertilizers. It was born in 2013 when the Dutch chemical giant OCI N.V. spun out its Beaumont operations as a publicly traded partnership. A fun twist: the plant's origins trace to the late 1960s, sat idle for years, and was revived by OCI in 2011; the "OCI" name itself echoes the Egyptian firm Orascom Construction Industries, whose initials survive in the parent's name.
