A chain of neighborhood primary-care clinics built especially for older adults on Medicare, Oak Street Health runs friendly centers in dozens of states with walk-in care, social activities, and same-day appointments. Three former Boston Consulting Group colleagues founded it in 2012 in Chicago, aiming to keep seniors healthy rather than just treating them when they fall ill. The name was chosen to evoke the stability of a sturdy oak tree, and the company is now part of the CVS Health family.
