Apigee Corporation
A maker of software that helps companies build, secure, and monitor the application programming interfaces, or APIs, that let their apps talk to each other. Founded in 2004 in Santa Clara, California as Sonoa Systems, it was rebranded Apigee in 2010 — a playful twist on "apogee," the highest point of an orbit, since its founders imagined an API as a far point beyond the edge. Google bought the company in 2016, and its platform now anchors Google Cloud's API offering.
