It began in 1998 as NewsDirect Inc., a distributor of internet video press releases, before rebranding to ON24 and, after the dot-com bust, narrowing its focus to webcasting. The name plays on a 24-hour news cycle — a nod to its early days of streaming financial news "on" the hour, "on" a 24-hour schedule.
