Orchard Supply Hardware Stores Corporation

A home improvement and gardening retailer, Orchard Supply Hardware (OSH) stocked everything from fasteners and tools to plants and housewares for do-it-yourself homeowners. It began in 1931 in San Jose, California, when 30 local orchardists and fruit growers pooled their money to buy farm supplies at better prices during the Great Depression. The name was a literal nod to that mission: the Santa Clara Valley was then so full of fruit trees it was called the "Valley of Heart's Delight."
