Outerwall Inc.

A maker of self-service kiosks, Outerwall was the parent company behind three familiar machines: Coinstar coin-counting stations that turn loose change into cash, Redbox DVD-rental kiosks, and ecoATM machines that buy used phones for instant cash. It began in 1991 in Bellevue, Washington, as Coinstar, founded by Jens Molbak and two partners, and renamed itself Outerwall in 2013 to signal "pushing the walls of retail out" into automated retail. Fun fact: Redbox was originally started by McDonald's in 2002 before Coinstar took a majority stake in 2008.
