Ptc Inc.
A maker of software that helps manufacturers design, build, and service their products, PTC's tools include Creo for 3D design, Windchill for managing a product's lifecycle, and ThingWorx for internet-connected machines. Founded in 1985 by mathematician Samuel Geisberg, the company took the name Parametric Technology Corporation for its breakthrough 'parametric' modeling, which lets engineers change one dimension and update the whole design. Its 1988 launch of Pro/ENGINEER was the first commercially successful software of its kind, and the firm shortened its name to PTC in 2013.
