Pacira BioSciences makes non-opioid pain treatments, best known for EXPAREL, a long-acting local anesthetic injected at the surgical site so patients recover from operations with less reliance on opioids. Its lineup also includes iovera°, a device that uses targeted cold to numb nerves. Founded in 2006 under the placeholder name Blue Acquisition Corp., the Tampa-based company later renamed itself Pacira and rebranded as Pacira BioSciences in 2019.
