Pacwest Bancorp

A bank holding company based in Beverly Hills, California, PacWest Bancorp ran Pacific Western Bank, a commercial and venture bank that served businesses across the West. Launched in 1999 as First Community Bancorp, it grew through acquisitions and took the name PacWest—a contraction of "Pacific Western"—in 2008. In 2023 it merged with Banc of California and now operates under that name; the same year, a similarly named Oregon bank had to reassure customers it was a completely different company.
