A specialty insurance company that writes property and casualty coverage for hard-to-insure, catastrophe-prone risks, with earthquake insurance for homes and businesses in California as its core focus. Founded in 2014 by Mac Armstrong, who grew up in La Jolla and returned to his hometown to launch the firm after years working in the Bay Area. The name echoes Palomar Mountain and its famous observatory in nearby San Diego County.
