Panera Bread Co
A chain of fast-casual bakery-café restaurants known for fresh-baked bread, soups, salads, and sandwiches served in a comfortable café setting, with locations across the United States and Canada. It began in 1987 as the St. Louis Bread Company in Missouri, and after being acquired by the Boston-based Au Bon Pain chain in 1993, it was renamed Panera Bread to appeal to a national audience. The name "Panera" comes from a Latin and Italian word meaning "breadbasket."
