Parexel International Corporation

A contract research organization, one of the world's largest, that helps drugmakers design and run clinical trials, manage data, and steer new medicines through regulatory approval. Founded in 1982 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, by chemist Anne B. Sayigh and Josef von Rickenbach, it began as a consulting firm guiding foreign drug companies through the U.S. approval process. Its name comes from Paracelsus, the sixteenth-century Swiss physician and alchemist often called the father of modern toxicology.
