Petrochina Co Ltd
A giant Chinese oil and gas company, PetroChina explores for, produces, refines, and sells crude oil and natural gas, plus fuels and petrochemicals, across China and beyond. It was created in 1999 when the state-owned China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) spun off its core energy assets into a separate listed company. Its name is simply a blend of "petroleum" and "China," and in 2007 it briefly became the first company ever to reach a trillion-dollar market value.
