Pimco New York Municipal Income Fund
A closed-end investment fund that pools money to buy New York municipal bonds — debt issued by state and local governments for things like schools, hospitals, and water systems — so shareholders can earn income that is exempt from federal, New York State, and New York City taxes. It is managed by PIMCO, the bond-investing firm founded in 1971 in Newport Beach, California, as the money-management arm of Pacific Mutual Life Insurance Company. The fund itself launched in 2001, one of several similar PIMCO municipal funds.
