A packaged-food company behind beloved American pantry and freezer staples—Duncan Hines cake mixes, Birds Eye frozen vegetables, Vlasic pickles, and Wish-Bone dressings. It began in 1998 as Vlasic Foods International, a spin-off of brands from Campbell Soup, and was renamed Pinnacle Foods in 2001 after a bankruptcy reorganization by the Metropoulos Group. The new name was picked to signal its aim of reaching the "pinnacle" of the food industry.
