Plug Power Inc.
A maker of hydrogen fuel cells and electrolyzers, Plug Power builds systems that turn water into hydrogen and hydrogen into electricity. Its GenDrive fuel cells power the warehouse forklift fleets of Amazon and Walmart, and it runs green hydrogen production plants. Founded in 1997 as a joint venture between Detroit's DTE Energy and engineering firm Mechanical Technology Inc., it got its name from the idea of a 'plug-and-play' replacement for batteries — and its branding celebrates the 'power of two,' hydrogen's two atoms.
