Plum Creek Timber Co Inc
A timberland and forest products company that owned large tracts of forest across the United States and ran sawmills making softwood lumber, plywood, studs, and fiberboard for home building. It was spun off from the Burlington Northern railroad's parent in 1989 and later became a real estate investment trust before merging into Weyerhaeuser in 2016. The name comes from a small Minnesota stream where the company's first U.S. lumber mill was built—a watery nod to its Midwestern roots even though it was long headquartered in Seattle.
