Polycom Inc
A maker of voice, video, and content collaboration gear, Polycom is best known for inventing the three-armed SoundStation conference speakerphone that became a standard fixture in meeting rooms worldwide. Founded in 1990 in a San Francisco basement by two former PictureTel engineers, the company's name blends "poly" (many) and "com" (communications) to reflect its many ways of connecting people. The original SoundStation was so influential that it was added to the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History collection.
