A real estate investment trust that owns, develops, and manages warehouses, distribution centers, and fulfillment centers used by retailers and e-commerce companies to move goods around the world. It traces its roots to Security Capital Industrial Trust, founded in 1991, which renamed itself ProLogis in 1998 — a nod to "professional logistics" — and to AMB Property Corporation, founded in 1983. In 2011 the two rivals merged to form today's Prologis, one of the world's largest industrial landlords.
