Questcor Pharmaceuticals, Inc.
Questcor was a specialty biopharmaceutical company that made H.P. Acthar Gel, a treatment for serious autoimmune and inflammatory conditions, including infantile spasms in babies under two. The company was born in 1999 from the merger of two Southern California biotech firms, RiboGene and Cypros. A fun quirk: "Acthar" is simply a phonetic play on the drug's active ingredient, ACTH (adrenocorticotropic hormone), first approved by the FDA back in 1952.
