An independent oil and natural gas company that drilled for unconventional oil and liquids-rich gas in the Permian Basin of West Texas. Founded in 2010 by a team of industry veterans backed by private equity, it grew through drilling and acquisitions, went public in 2014, and was bought by Concho Resources in 2018. The "RSP" in its name is tied to Rising Star Petroleum, an earlier venture of one of its co-founders.
