Red Hat Inc
A maker of enterprise open-source software, Red Hat is best known for Red Hat Enterprise Linux and OpenShift, which help businesses run their servers, clouds, and apps. Founded in the 1990s by Marc Ewing and Bob Young, the company's name came from Ewing's habit of wearing his grandfather's red lacrosse cap—classmates told people needing computer help to "look for the guy in the red hat." IBM acquired Red Hat in 2019.
