Safeway Inc
A supermarket chain, Safeway runs grocery stores across the United States, today as part of the larger Albertsons Companies. It traces back to 1915, when Marion Barton Skaggs bought a small store from his father in American Falls, Idaho, and grew it by pioneering cash-only, self-service shopping. The name came from Skaggs's pitch that paying cash was the "safe way" to buy groceries, saving customers from the debt of traditional credit ledgers.
