Sanchez Energy Corp

An independent oil and natural gas exploration and production company that drilled for oil and gas in the Eagle Ford Shale of South Texas, using horizontal drilling to reach reserves buried deep underground. It was founded in 2011 and named after the Sanchez family, a Houston energy dynasty whose private firm, Sanchez Oil & Gas Corporation, dated back to 1972. The Eagle Ford Shale itself is named after a neighborhood in West Dallas where the rock formation was first spotted.
