We are exposed to the impact of changes in interest rates, commodity prices of raw material purchases and foreign exchange. We have not entered into any arrangements to hedge against changes in market interest rates, commodity prices or foreign currency fluctuations.
We are unable to engage in hedging activity related to commodity prices, because there are no established futures markets for nuts; therefore, we can only attempt to pass on the commodity cost increases in the form of price increases to our customers. A hypothetical 1% increase in material costs, without a corresponding price increase, would have decreased gross profit approximately $7.1 million for fiscal 2026. See Part I, Item 1A — “Risk Factors” for a further discussion of the risks and uncertainties related to commodity prices of raw materials and the impact thereof on our business.
Approximately 28% of the dollar value of our total nut, dried fruit and oat purchases for fiscal 2026 were made from foreign countries, and while these purchases were payable in U.S. dollars and therefore we have no foreign currency risk in this regard, the underlying costs may fluctuate with changes in the value of the U.S. dollar relative to the currency in the foreign country from where the nuts are purchased, or to other major foreign currencies such as the euro.
We are exposed to interest rate risk on our Credit Facility and Equipment Loan while we are making interest only payments, our only variable rate facilities, because we have not entered into any hedging instruments which fix the floating rate or offset an increase in the floating rate. A hypothetical 10% adverse change in weighted-average interest rates would have had approximately a $0.2 million impact on our net income and cash flows from operating activities for fiscal 2026.
