Sasol Limited
A South African energy and chemicals maker that turns coal and natural gas into liquid fuels, polymers, solvents, and other industrial chemicals used in everyday goods. It was set up by the government in 1950 to supply the country with fuel, since South Africa had no oil of its own. Its name is an acronym of its original Afrikaans title, Suid-Afrikaanse Steenkool-, Olie- en Gaskorporasie (South African Coal, Oil and Gas Corporation), and its technology traces to the Fischer-Tropsch process developed in Germany.
