A. Schulman, Inc.

A maker of custom-engineered plastic compounds and color concentrates, A. Schulman supplied masterbatches (branded Polybatch) and specialty resins that manufacturers used to color and strengthen everyday plastic products. Founded in 1928 by Alex Schulman in Akron, Ohio, the company began as a small rubber brokerage buying and reselling scrap rubber before pivoting to plastics. It operated for 90 years until it was acquired by LyondellBasell in 2018.
