A seaborne hauler of refined petroleum products, Scorpio Tankers moves gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, and naphtha across the globe on a fleet of product tankers (MR, LR2, and Handymax classes), based in Monaco and traded on the New York Stock Exchange. It was formed in 2009 when Emanuele Lauro, a grandson of Italian founder Glauco Lolli-Ghetti, spun the tanker fleet out of the broader Scorpio Group, a shipping business begun in 1976. The name "Scorpio" traces back to that family shipping concern, and the group's signature black-and-white livery carries a scorpion emblem across its vessels' hulls.
