Semgroup Corp
A Tulsa-based midstream energy company, SemGroup ran pipelines, storage terminals, and processing plants that moved crude oil, natural gas, and asphalt from wellheads to refineries across North America, with units like SemCAMS and SemStream. Founded in 2000 by Thomas Kivisto and Gregory Wallace, its name is a contraction of "Seminole Group." The firm famously filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2008 after a wrong-way bet that oil prices would fall, then reorganized and was later absorbed by Energy Transfer in 2019.
